Welcome to the 101 Cafe Experiment. Where creativity and community collide. Equal parts social hub and laboratory. Unplug and catch up, or plug-in and get some work done. Either way, stay awhile. We’ll be testing new flavours and recipes and want you to tell us what tastes best. Let us know what you think; channel your inner Anton Ego. Like all the greats who have shaped the world around us, we believe only through constant testing and curiosity can we find the winning formula.

Christmas at Market & Main

Free venue hire and your Christmas catering sorted with Market & Main.

101 Cafe is the perfect spot for your Christmas function this year, catering for groups of 20-40 people, from Christmas canapés to an elevated plated dinner, we have menus to suit your celebration and venue hire is on us.

Casual bites for a relaxed dinner, from Harissa spiced beef kofta, hummus, pickled red peppers to fried cauliflower, kimchi and herb salad, green onion, yoghurt. Guests will be free to mingle and won't go hungry.

For an elevated celebration, end the year with a beautiful sit-down dinner in 101 Cafe's relaxed setting. Select from mouthwatering Angus beef to Ora King Salmon, topping it off with a selection of petit fours.

Delicious bites for a stand-up event, from sesame seared tuna, wasabi crème fraiche, radish to roasted rare beef, stylish canapés that make chatting easy but don't shy away from flavour.

Our Cafe Menu

It wouldn’t be a cafe experiment without a few surprises. A few calculated risks. Fusion and fermentation. An epiphany or two, or three. We like to keep things fresh and so our menu is ever-changing, and you have a role to play in that.

We still have all the usual cafe favourites. Good strong coffee. Smoothies. Salads. A stacked cabinet of sweet treats and savoury scones. Bacon.

There are also the showstoppers. The unavoidables. Sandos? Absolutely. Fried chicken? Yuuup. Something spicy? Duh.

One thing that won’t change, however, is our love of local produce and supporting Tauranga and Bay of Plenty growers and suppliers. There will be plenty of familiar names on our menu, even if the food on offer is refreshingly different.
